A few days ago I experienced a sudden loud noise by my right ear. Since then everything I seem to do makes the ear drum vibrate and is an uncomfortable feeling. For example, when I hit a plate with a knife, cough, talk etc it vibrates. I m going away for a week and won t be able to see a ENT or doctor. What could it be?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your query, you have symptoms of sudden loud noise in the ear which seems to be due to Tinnitus, and could be due to eardrum perforation and Eustachian tube dysfunction. It could be due to otitis media as well.
You should gently rinse the ear using a bulb syringe and warm saline solution. I would suggest you visit ENT specialist and start treatment by taking proper antibiotic (Amoxicillin) course.
The Doctor may perform ear cleaning as well. Give warm compresses to ear 2 to 3 times a day and use ear drops containing antibiotics and take rest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
