What Caused Demise During Bile Obstruction Surgery?
Hi Doctor, my friend recently died after a surgery to correct a bile obstruction. It s my understanding the patients generally don t die from such a procedure once they receive proper medical attention. My friend s kidney shut down and they had to remove a portion of his intestines. What could have possibly gone wrong to cause such a sudden death?
* As per my surgical experience, this sounds to be a grave surgical pathology for which your friend was operated as obstructive jaundice from periampullary carcinoma of the head of the pancreas for which Radical surgery of Whipple`s procedure is carried out.
* These are not simple procedures of just removing an obstacle, it requires interrogation of series of anatomic structure and its anastomosis.
* Still if you can provide me with all detailed reports of before surgery, I can still focus further in this regard.
* Just discuss the issue with his relatives as the doctor must have explained them verbally as well as in writing regarding his condition, procedures indications, advantages, disadvantages of all the items.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
