What Caused Swelling, Inflammation And Limited Movement Of Left Hand?
Hi I am a 20yr old female vet student and ive lost use of my left arm. This has been for 5 weeks now following a injury where horse pulled it. Originally thought to be a brachial plexus injury the mri of neck and brachial plexus was ok. Was transferred to neurology as my left leg also went weak had nerves tests which was ok too. Was in hospital for 3 wks where nothing could be found other than saying functional weakness. On leaving hospital I have passed out a few times and got blurred vision and burning pain down right side of face. Arm now has limited movement in shoulder and elbow. Still no feeling at all but noticed my hand is hugely swollen bright red and hot and left side of chest is massively swollen and inflammed. Leg seems normal again. Any thoughts on this would be hugely appreciated as I need to get back to uni!! Thanks in advance Lucie Mckenzie
Hello I have studied your case. There is possibility of brachial plexus avulsion which can be missed on MRI. You may need MRI with contrast or 3 tesla MRI. . EMG NCV study will help in diagnosis. Till time continue physiotherapy and exercises. I hope I have answered your questions. If you have further questions please feel free to contact us. I will be happy to answer. Take care.
