What Causes 6-yearold To Drink Lot Of Water?

Hi there. I have a question about my baby cousin (6 year old boy) who apparently has got a rare sickness and he drinks a lot of water throughout the day (3-4 litres) I don't know any other symptoms because they won't say. What sickness (rare) could this be and how serious?

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi...This could be an initial symptom of diabetes insipidus. This is called polydypsia in medical terms. I suggest you get him evaluated with his pediatrician. The other possibility is a renal tubular disorder.
