What Causes Bacterial Vaginosis?
I am on ortho tricyclen and have been over a year...I continually get BV and it has been worse since my boyfriend and I have been having intercourse.....what should I do? I have been treated 3 times in the past 5 months (flagyl and a cream) and now I have it again! What could be the cause???

Further research is going on to know the high recurrence rates of bacterial vaginosis. As the etiology and pathogenesis of bacterial vaginosis are not completely understood, treatment for bacterial vaginosis is not always effective, resulting in high recurrence rates.
Prevention of recurrent bacterial vaginosis is by
Partner management: reduce the number of partners;
Use of condoms or dental dams;
Avoidance of douching
Treatment of bacterial vaginosis is by
Long-term metronidazole gel application
Long-term, high-dose metronidazole suppositories
