What Causes HCG Levels Going From High To Low During Pregnancy?
My wife and I recently found out we were expecting. Her HCG level has not been increasing or doubling the way it should according to the DR. Last week it rose from 21000 to 28000 and Monday dropped to 26000 and today it was 26,900. The DR. preparred us for a MC and started making plans to administer the meds on Monday to start the process of a MC. I requested another blood draw and an US prior to using the meds just to rule out any potential of a child being present. Is there anything that could cause the HCG level to decrease and then increase again and is there even a chance that the fetus is normal if the HCG level is not increasing as fast as the DR. thinks it should? We have not seen a fetus only the yolk sac and gestational sac. The sac messured at 6w 1day on Wednesday this week.
this is an anembryonic pregnancy , also known as chemical pregnancy where no fetus is seen. this is a non viable pregnancy. ideally hcg should raise by 66 per cent in every 48 hrs , if it doesnt happen so , then chances are that it is a chemical / non viable pregnancy and should undergo menstrual regulation with meds. regards
