Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 29 year old female and have been diagnosed with moderate RVH. I am curious what this means for me as I am now pregnant. Will this affect the way I deliver, or cause any serious complications? The doctor sent me for a sleep study thinking that it may be caused by sleep apnea but that came back with no apnea. What are some other causes for RVH and is it reversible?
Hello welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns. RVH means right ventricular hypertrophy. Which indicates that your lung pressure is high which cause your right sided ventricle extra pressure. This condition in very early stage is reversible but once established can't be reversed and progressive.
My advice to you is -
1. Consult a cardiologist and do your echo study properly and ask him about how much is lung pressure and what is the cause of RVH.
2 . Pulmonary hypertension (high lung pressure) more than certain levels will be dangerous in pregnancy and sometimes it will be dangerous to mother. So kindly confirm everything on priority basis .
3. You can go for sleep apnea study as it can be the cause of high lung Pressure and RVH.
I hope that I have given you satisfactory answer. Thank you.
