My mother is 91 yrs old. She was admitted to the hospital with a UTI, low sodium and dehydration. They put her on Cepro (Antibiotic) not sure i spelled it correctly. The UTI has cleared up but her sodium levels continue to fall. Her Dr has her on Trazadone to help her sleep, she takes a thyroid supplement for hypo thyroidism for 60 yrs) , and a low dose statin for elevated cholesterol. She is dis-oriented, very weak, and is not getting better. She has always been very healthy, her entire life with no significant problems. She takes a senior multi vitamin, fish oil, calcium, and a glusosamin tablet each day in addition to her prescriptions I mentioned above. Could the low sodium be the reason for her decline? What would you do if you had a patient with these symptons?
