What Causes A Black Finger Spot Which Is Raised?

i have a tiny black spot on my finger. It looks like a raised freckle. It is oval shaped. I have had it for about three weeks. what could it be? My mum says it is a blood spot as a result of injury, however i do not recall having injurred myself. Thanks
