I have a 12 yr. old chihuahua that for the past several months has started having a bladder leakage problem. She has never had the problem before and I have owned her since she was a pup. She does not realize she is leaking as she will lie in it on the patio or if she is sitting in my lap. There may also be some blood in the urine as I have noticed on light colored clothing I was wearing when she was in my lap. PLEASE NOTE -- I have not totally ignored this problem as it comes and goes. It may happen for a day or two and then note occur for several weeks. I would sincerely appreciate a response. Thank you, Ranee
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can. It can be caused by everyday habits, underlying medical conditions or physical problems. Urinary tract infection can irritate your bladder, causing you to have strong urges to urinate, and sometimes incontinence. Constipation- The rectum is located near the bladder and shares many of the same nerves. Hard, compacted stool in your rectum causes these nerves to be overactive and increase urinary frequency. Neurological disorders may be cause as well. It may be treated by Medications, biheviroal techniques, pelvic flood exercises or electrical stimulation and it depends on type of disorder. I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
