What Causes A Blood Filled Bump On The Sideburn?

My bf has a small lump on his sideburn he squeezed it tonight and a lot of white hard crap came out of it then he squeezed it again and something went flying over the room then blood started pouring out of the lump and was running down his face blood soon stopped but now I'm concerned as to what this is
