What Causes A Choking Feeling In A Person Who Has Thyroid Problem?

I have been hoarse for a couple of weeks, and I find that I choke easily (whether I m eating or not). I am tired alot. I have been on thyroid medication for about 10 years, but I ve never been to a thyroid specialist. A family practitioner has been prescribing the medicine. Could my symptoms be from a thyroid problem, allergies, or something else. Should I see a thyroid specialist?

Dear- thanks for using our service.Your symptoms could be secondary to enlarged thyroid gland or goiter, which may be pressing the esophagus and make you choke easily. You need to have a thyroid blood work to adjust dose of medication. You might need a thyroid ultrasound to evaluate the size of the thyroid and any possibility of thyroid node or cyst.I think that it is a good idea to have an evaluation with a thyroid specialist because you are in medication and have symptoms,
