What Causes A Choking Feeling In The Chest After Eating?

For a long time (years) I have noticed that certain foods seem to get stuck - it feels like it s in the middle of my chest. It seems to be getting a little more frequent and when I wake up in the morning I almost feel like liquid is trying to come up - not nauseated though. I want to try some things before going to the doc. If I take an antacid, is one better than another? I generally don t like taking meds. I will also raise the head of my bed.

Hello,

You may be suffering from acute Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. Need to take tablet Nexium before breakfast for one week.

Avoid spicy food and alcohol, avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
