What Causes A Cold Sensation On One Side Of The Face In A Child?

My 12 year old daughter is complaining of a cold sensation on one side of her face. This happened before about a month ago, but went away quickly. Now the cold sensation has returned and is bothering her to the point of distraction. I have called for an appointment, but wonder what this could be.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Dear friend,

It might be something related to the nerve that supplies sensation on the face - viz. the trigeminal nerve or what we commonly know as the fifth cranial nerve. She will need to be seen by a pediatrician urgently.

The other possibility is that she may be having gum or dental trouble ... so please take a look inside her mouth. If there is any gum swelling or if she has pain on your touching any tooth with a spoon, please go to a dentist or an oral surgeon for a check-up.
