What Causes A Crackling Sound In The Ear While Burping Or Yawning?
Last night I took a bath, when my head went under water I felt the bubbles of water going in my ear. Most of the water left my ear but when ever I burp or yawn I feel a slight crackling noise like there is water still in my ear. It has been 24 hours and I still have the noise in my ear. Is this serious? I have no pain at all and I can hear almost fine out of it. I put some rubbing alcohol in my ear about 3 hours ago but nothing has changed. What should I do?
I gather from the description that you have some water collected in the middle ear and not external ear. Unless forcefully inserted water does'nt enter the external ear because the canal is not straight. So many times, if we snufle forcefully and that too during shower, there are chances some mucus might enter the middle ear by a tube which connects your ear with nose (Eustachian Tube). Try instilling Otrivin nasal Drops/spray (Xylometazoline HCL) 3 times daily in both nostrils for few days and any decongestant tablet for few days. If still persists, visit a ENT Doctor, he will do detailed examination and prescribe accordingly.
