What Causes A Dominant Itchy Scar After A PICC Line?
3 years ago my sister had appendicitis, during the surgery, the hospital gave her a very rare infection, I think they had to call the cdc in and everything. To treat the infection they had to give her a picc line, she s all better now, but the scar from the picc line is still raised and itches very badly. I m worried it might be something else weird the hospital gave her, is there a reason it s still puffy and itchy after 3 years?

the scar u are talking about is known as keloid. keloids can develop after any kind of trauma. they may be asymptomatic or can be itchy or painful. best way to treat those are to get an intralesional injection of traimcinolone acetonide. this injection will suppress the scar as well as the itching.
