My daughter took a doxycylcline hyclate pill last night at 1:00 in the morning and it still feels like its stuck in her throat, she is also burping it up. She is drinking lots of fluids including hot tea and ice pops. She is 19 years old. Do you have any suggestions of what more we can do?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain burping and feeling of something struck after taking antibiotics is due to Acid reflux and is caused due to hyperacidity which is a common side effect caused by antibiotics..
Nothing to worry, she can take Proton pump inhibitor like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole once in morning empty stomach and once at night.. Antacid like Milk of Magnesia can also be taken.. Drink plenty of water. Avoid spicy and acidic foods and take a soft easily digestible diet.. Sleep weth head slightly raised as compared to feet by keeping pillows under head.. All this has to be followed till you are taking antibiotics..
If still no improvement consult your treating physician and get the antibiotics changed..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora..
