After a recent trip to the gym, in which I use a variety of weight resistance machines for moderate strength improvement, I began to notice a large lump on the right side of my neck, which was very hard, and seemed to be part of my neck musculature. The bulge has now gone away. What was it?
Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Although it needs a physical examination of the lump to opine on it, from your history, it seems that possibly it was a tense hematoma (collection of blood) in that area due to over stretching and tearing of the muscle fibres. This collection gradually might have got absorbed, and so it vanished. However, if you note it again, I would advise you to get it clinically assessed by a general surgeon in your area for further investigations and management.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
