What Causes A High Specific Gravity And '60' Pus Cells In Urine Test?

Good afternoon, I have done a urine recently and I was found with 60 pus cells when the normal range indicated was from 0 to 8. In addition, I had specific gravity (strip method) that was found a bit higher at 1.030 out of the normal range 1.01 to 1.025... What could be the cause ?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
Your problem is most likely due to urinary infection. Specific gravity can change slightly in case of infection also. Urea and creatinine should be checked to rule out any kidney problems. For urinary tract infection i treat my patients with fluroquinolone antibiotics initially and send urine for culture and change antibiotic if necessary after culture report. I also advise them to take potassium citrate to alkalize urine. Cranberry juice or barley water also is helpful. Hope this may help you.
Let me know if you have any further queries.
