What Causes A Knot In Throat And Could It Be Due To Cancer?

I have one knot in my throat since last year. I consult three doc., in fact I went to the RML hospital also but he said " jab badi ho jai tab aana" I am worried. My throat is not well, cough is there. Now CGHS dispensary doc. advised me to test tlc, dlc, hm and esr. What these tests are? are they be conducted for cancer detection?

Feeling of lump in the throat could be due to reflux disease,tonsillar stones,granular pharyngitis,thyroiditis,tumors,anxiety.If cough is there then considering it as pharyngitis start on warm salt water gargles,avoid cold drinks,cough suppressants.These tests are performed to rule out infections .Watch for enlargement/pain if yes then need biopsy.
