What Causes A Large Lump At The Vagina That Is Prominent Upon Standing?

There seems to be a large (size of an orange) peeking through my vagina. When I lay down it resides and I cannot feel it. When I stand it is prominent. Went to gynecologist and he said he saw and felt nothing. Help! Are my female organs falling or do I have a serious issue?

Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of prolapse of uterus, bladder, urethra, rectum, etc. Prolapse in the vagina is commonly caused when the muscles that support the pelvic organ become weak. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a Gynae. Get per vaginal check up and tests like pelvic floor MRI, pelvic ultrasound, CT scan of abdomen and pelvis done to detect the organ that is prolapsing. Your treatment will depend on the diagnosis made. Get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
