What Causes A Lump In Tongue?

I have a lump inside my tongue that started as a mild soreness last night and now is taking up about a quarter of my tongue. It s not visible but my tongue feels swollen and has a hard lump inside on the right side. I had severe tonsilitis a few weeks ago and have had a sore throat ever since, but no tongue problems before this.

YOU HAVE NOT GIVEN YOUR AGE, HOWEVER THE MOST COMMON SWELLING IN INNER 1/3RD OF TOUNGE IN YOUNG PEOPLE IS EITHER A LINGUAL THYROID OR A CYSTIC SWELLING CALLED RANULOMA SINCE EMBRYONICALLY BOTH START FROM TOUNGE. IN THYROID CASE THE EMBRYONIC CELLS MIGRATE FROM INNER ASPECT OF TOUNGE TO REACH ITS PROPER PLACE BELOW THE ADAMS APPLE. YOU ARE ADVISED TO REPORT FOR A CLINICAL EXAMINATION BY ENT SPECIALIST WHO WILL BE OF HELP AND HE MAY ASK FOR RELEVANT INVESTIGATIONS.
