Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Did he experience any loss of consciousness or vomiting following the injury? If so you will have to worry. Else normally following any injury it can cause inflammation and due to that swelling can occur. Which will heal soon. if it persist have to make sure whether it is a blood clot.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
