What Causes A Pelvic Mass Of Ovarian Origin After Undergoing Hysterectomy?

Hi: I have no ovaries and no uterus, has a Hysterectomy on 2001 leaving one ovary lest and in 2006 they took my other ovary. Now I ve been having oelvic pain and they did a CT san abdomen and pelvic and results came with a pelvic mass, ovarian origin, how come if I don t have ovaries....is that means they probably dont know from where thatmass is attached? My Dr referred me to a Gyn surgeon oncologist so we take care of that, but i wil like to have your opinion

Hello,

The source of origin of the mass can be detected through a physical exam, sonogram of the pelvic region preferably in the transvaginal route, minimal invasive laparoscopy, etc. FNA cytology can also be helpful. If slight ovarian tissue was left over at the time of the surgery, it is possible that the mass developed from the tissue. Please follow your doctor's instructions and plan further management.
