What Causes A Prolonged Menstrual Period?

I have been on a birth control pill for 16 years now and my periods are still irregular. A few months ago my period lasted about 25 days. Currently my period is bright red with large clots and has lasted 7 days. Normally, when I do have a period is lasts about 2-3 days. Should I contact my doctor?

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

If you have had your children and not interested in any further child kindly continue with oral contraceptive pills till menopause but to be sure you are not harboring any disorder other than hormonal disturbance of periods, kindly get USG scan of pelvic organ, Pap smear test and blood profile.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rajni Gill, OB & GYN Specialist
