What Causes A Pustule On The Right Tonsil?

A few days ago I woke up and had pus in my throat, I went to the doctor and he said I had a cold and prescribed me Claritin D to keep my sinuses from draining. The next morning the right side of my throat was hurting so I checked my mouth and seen that I had a pustule on my right tonsil. What could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pustule on the tonsil is commonly related to a tonsil infection. I recommend to use a throat spray for antibacterial properties. I also suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms. If the symptoms continue, you may need oral antibiotics. Meanwhile, I suggest to drink liquids and rest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
