What Causes A Rash Forming Around Both Of The Faciatimy Scars?

I have a recent gin shot wound to my thigh. A bullet severed my femoral artery. I take gabapentin about 4 days a week, i take 1800 mg in the morning. I do this because i am not always in pain, i have a rash forming around both of the faciatimy scars. It itches slightly. I am 23 years old 165 lbs and i am over all pretty fit and i do my best to have a healthy diet. I cannot go to my doctor because i am currently uninsured until april. My question is will stopping the gabapentin make the rash go away? Should i lower the dose and it will go away? I have to take atleast 1200 mg for the pain to be tolerable when i do have pain. Also the last bit of my pee hurts but not everytime i pee, it kind of looks like the last but of pee that hurts is thicker and it cloudy. I read this drug can affect your kidneys so this alarms me as well.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history, you are having irritant dermatitis. My treatment advice is :

1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Apply a placentrex gel twice daily on it.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, topical steroid cream given only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
