What Causes A Recurring Lump Above Eyebrow?

My son had a cyst removed from his eyebrow surgically due to it s size and sudden rapid onset of growth. He has had the small cyst which formed when he was just weeks old. My mother left a remote control on top of the couch and it slid down striking the infant just above the right eyebrow. It formed an approximately 1/2 cm round lump. This gradually increased in size as he aged. Suddenly at 14 the area began to hurt him and grew to about 1 cm in size. I was able to freely move the lump. He complained it was sore. I took him to a local surgeon and the cyst was removed. It had begun to become in-twined in a literal ball of hair. It has been approximately 1 year since the surgery. There site healed well with no scar tissue and no further presence of the cyst could be palpated. A few weeks ago he had me feel the scar and I can again palpate approximately 1/2 cm lump again. Is this an issue that will recur over and over again? Should I have it removed again?

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi...I have just gone through your query in detail. By what you quote it seems to be a recurrent sebaceous cyst and it needs to be removed as it can get secondarily infected.

I suggest you get it excised.

regards - Dr. Sumanth
