What Causes A Red Painful Patch In The Leg?

I got hit with a baseball last week in my ankle. It bruised but nothing bad. About 6 days ago my upper thigh had a small red patch with pain. Felt like a really bad bruise. That is gone now but my leg and back of my thigh hurts like the patch of redness did. No patch tho. And my ankle has swollen.

Hi.
As per your case history you are superficial bacterial infection.
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
