What Causes A Red Patch On Upper Palate?

hI,
My husband is 26 years old & started having th flue since a couple of days ago.
it was pretty bad & he has developed a blood stain sort of a thing on his upper palette. Ususally during sore throats, the throat gets infected but even though he has the sore throat siverely, the blood stain sort of a patch is visible. I am worrie dit is herpes. can you please help me by letting me know other possibilities

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms red patch over the palate along with sore throat is due to inflammation caused secondary to infection..
The infection can be bacterial or viral in nature..
In case if it is in the form of a red lump it can be a Pyogenic Granuloma..

Nothing to worry consult an ENT surgeon and get evaluated and he can advise you to take antibiotics like AZITHROMYCIN 500 mg once daily for 5 days..
Do warm saline gargles..
In case of pain anti-inflammatory painkiller like IBUPROFEN can be taken to reduce pain and inflammation..
Avoid hot, spicy and hard foods..
Take a soft diet..
You can also suck on throat lozenges for soothing the throat..
Chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..
Doing steam inhalations and using a cool mist humidifier in your room can further have an additive soothing effect..
