What Causes A Red Spot On The Nose Of A Child?

My four year old son has a red spot on his nose which appeared on Monday, during the week it turned sore and got bigger. The doctor has given me some anti fungal cream but now it has gone crusty and grown again overnight. He said it doesn t hurt or itch. He doesn t have any other spots on his body. Do you know what this could be?
