What Causes A Sharp Pain In The Ear Relieved Only By Pressing It Hard?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I get a sharp pain in my left ear soetimes. They only way I can relieve it is to press it hard until it stops hurting. Could it be related to a cyst on my scalp on the same side?

This kind of pain could be related to an inner ear disorder, considering the fact that the pain is modulated by big pressure on the ear. Anyway, I don't think that this is related to the cyst on the scalp. Another possible issue to consider would be trigeminal neuralgia, but it is usually not modulated by pressure at this point. I recommend consulting with an ENT specialist for a physical exam first.
