What Causes A Small Lump Near Anal Opening?

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago whilst wiping my back passage after going to the toilet, I felt a small lump on the right hand side above the opening. I hoped it would go away but it hasn't. It doesn't hurt at all and is not itchy. I just feel it through the tiolet paper each time I wipe my back passage. I haven't been able to view it myself, so can't tell you what it looks like. As my Uncle died of Bowel Cancer about 15 years ago - I am concerned. Am I over reacting - is this likely to just be a hemorrhoid?
