What Causes A Sub Pleural Mass At The Base Of The Left Lung?
My CT Scan indicates a 2.1 cm subpleural mass at the left lung base near the left costophrenic angle was not present on prior study on 11/19/2007. The adjacent pleural thickening is also new in this study. The CT scan follows hospital admission for bilateral PE and DVT on 50 yr old male. No history of cancer or other lung disease.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. New development of mass like lesion in lungs associated with pleural thickening is more suggestive of lung cancer. Simultaneously development of pulmonary embolism (PE) and DVT (deep venous thrombosis) are also favouring lung cancer more. So you will need Biopsy from that mass lesion to confirm the diagnosis of lung cancer. Treatment is directed on the basis of type of lung cancer. So consult pulmonologist and get done Biopsy from the mass for further treatment and management. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
