What Causes A Sudden And Short-lived Bleeding Post Depo-Provera Shot?

Hi, i have been on depot shot for 4 months, after the first shot , i had no period until it was time to get another shot. I continued to spot at least once a week up until las week. Today i had a huge gush of blood come out with several looking clots. This lasted for bout 5 minutes and then stopped, no more bleeding.

If I were your treating physician, I would advise you to take:

• Tab. Meprate (progesterone only) 10 mg once daily for 7 days. It will help in blood clotting and improve vascular supply to uterine lining.
• Cap. Tranexamic acid 500mg three times daily for 3-4 days. It will actively stop bleeding.
• Tab. Ponstan (mefenamic acid) for 3-4 days. It is also help in stopping heavy bleeding.
• Iron supplements for compensation of blood loss.

You may consult your gynaecologist about what to do if you experience heavy bleeding again in future.
