I recently discovered a swollen blister in the shape of a rectangle on my shoulder. When I went to the urgent care they told me it was shingles and prescribed an antibiotic and an antiviral. However, when I went to my primary today, she said it was a second degree burn. I don t remember getting burned, and the swollen blister appeared so rapidly-nearly five inches long and oozing and continually growing blisters. I am 20,female 5 6 and I am nearly 190 pounds. Pease help me.
A 5 inch long blister is less likely to be shingles. It could be an insect bite as lot of times both look similar initially. Shingles will present with excruciating pain while an insect bite will give you burning sensation. Another possibility is contact allergy to something.Since you say it is a defined rectangular shape, at times something, may be bra strap or anything of rectangle shape that touches the area could give an allergic reaction to the material. To confirm any of these it becomes essential to actually see the lesion.
