What Causes Abdomen Pain Intermittently With Nausea?
Hi there i am a 30 year old male, i see my GP once a year and he sends me for regular blood and urine work. Lately i have been having a dull pain in my upper left abdomen. It comes and goes. I dont have yellow skin or eyes, nor have i lost weight or lost my appetite. I get nausea once in a while.
With all the talk about pancreatic cancer in the news, i am worried. Should i be?
Hi. Thanks for your query. There is nothing to be not concerned about. This is a good practice to have a regular check up.
The pain in the upper left abdomen can be due to : Colitis as the commonest cause and a proper course of medicines should get you alright. Left kidney infection, stone or swelling; Yes, cancer of the pancreas as you suspect. Splenic problem Gastric ulcer and cancer.
I would suggest you the following: First of all get an ultrasonography and colonoscopy done after an appropriate course of an antibiotic and metronidazole. If suspected then only you can go for a CT scan of the abdomen for detailed diagnosis.
Pancreatic cancer is a very rare tumor to occur and is always painless to start with, but the auspiciousness alone can have early detection and proper treatment.
