Hi

Misoprostol is a prostaglandin analogue. Prostaglandins are hormone like chemicals which are responsible for cramping like sensation. Cramping usually starts one to four hours after taking the drug and may subside in a couple of days. Incase of excess bleeding with cramps or clots, you need to visit your gynaecologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
