What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Dark Menstrual Bleeding?
I am sexually active with my partner for 4 years. No protection used. This month I have been moody, backache, cramps, dizziness, short of breath when walking up stairs, insomnia, really vivid dreams and this all started when I should have gotten my period on the 27th. The dreams, and insomnia with headaches started about a week ago. Today would have been my 4th day late for my period but I finally got it in the middle of the day. I am still cramping and the bleeding is light but dark which is not usual. What do you think this could be? I took a pregnancy test 3 days ago and it was negative. Should I wait a few more days and take another one?

You should take another pregnancy test after a few days. Use the first morning midstream urine for the test for more accurate results. However, it will be better to do the test in the laboratory. Dark bleeding is not always of concern, cramps can be due to food intolerance or gastritis. Take antacids, avoid constipation. In the meantime stay well hydrated, include fiber in your diet. You can take multivitamins with folic acid & food rich in calcium and protein along with fresh fruits and veggies. Avoid stress, anxiety and heavy work. Stay comfortable and take good sleep.
