Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
This past Wednesday after dinner, I began having cramps in my bowels. I thin I may have had some bad onion rings. I was taking Pepto Bismal for this but it didn t seem to help that much. Since then, my bowels have really ached and Friday my temperature was 101.6. I took some Tylenol and within 2 hours it was down to 99. So I guess the fever broke. I had really watery bowel movements which I think explains the gas and cramps. But I am not having those watery bowl movements any longer but my intestines still ache. I am wondering if I strained myself trying to go. Other than my lower bowels still being sensitive and tender, I feel normal. What do you think?
Pain in lower abdomen, cramping, loose stool and fever indicate entero-colitis that is infection in the bowel. Hence I would advise you the following: Send sample of blood and stool for test. Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation and see the reports. He would treat you an antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics if there is any evidence of an infection. Take anti-spasmodic to relieve the pain.
Take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
