Hello, I have gone through your query and here are the answers: 1. After delivery or an abortion, the uterus returns to the near normal size and this happens through a process called 'involution', wherein the uterus contracts. These contractions are painful. 2. Infection of the pelvis, either the urinary tract, vagina or the lower gastrointestinal tract is another possible cause for the cramps. Sometimes, retained products and clots can cause such symptoms. Gaseous distension, side effects of medications used and being used and unwanted effects during the procedure like uterine trauma, also should be considered. Relief can be had from an anti-spasmodic. Proper clinical appraisal is needed for further management. Take care.
