What Causes Abdominal Distention?

I have recently been bothered by a constant feeling of being full. I may eat 2 bites of food. After that I can eat no more. I haven't changed anything in my eating plan. I exercise 3 times per week for an hour each time. I drink lots of water. I have recently lost about 18 lbs. over the last 12 month. My stomach looks almost distended for whatever reason.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Feeling full associated with weight loss could be related to stomach diseases. Further consultation with gastroenterologist is highly recommended together with running a few diagnostic tests like:

- abdominal ultrasound
- upper endoscopy
- stool analysis.

For the moment I can only advise to have frequent and small portion meals. Avoid chilly/oily/fried foods. Avoid alcohol, chocolate, etc. Take antacids after eating, probiotics away from meals and simethicone for bloating.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
