What Causes Abdominal Pain, Mucus And Flatulence, Loose Stools, Reflux And Indigestion?

I had left lower abdominal stinging pain that ranged from low- just above the pelvis almost to my waist. It was strong and persisted for about 4 hrs until I tried Ibuprofen and it felt somewhat better. It worsened when I walked and it radiated to the left side of my back. I am regular in my bowel habits - every morning and lately it seems I am having maybe 2-3 small BM s in the day. I do not have any bleeding but, there is often mucous present now and gas 3-4 times a day - usually before BM. I did have my gallbladder removed about 5 yrs ago and never had any of the horrible side effects after (I d always heard about diarrhea or difficulty w/bowels after surgery). In fact, I have been very regular each morning. But, only occasionally have loose stools - never diarrhea. The pain has been better today. The other sx I have is reflux and indigestion almost daily for about 3-4 weeks.

Hi.
The cause of your abdominal pain, mucus in stool, flatulence and gases before BM, loose stools re-flux and indigestion can be due to severe form of colitis as per the history provided by you.
As per your history I can think of Cancer of the colon - hence causing the severe pain due to obstruction; passage only of the gases before BM; loose stools ;
Get a CT scan of the Abdomen, Colonoscopy and related investigations so that the proper diagnosis can be made and treatment planned accordingly- whether Surgical or medical.
Cholecystectomy ( gall Bladder Removal )5 years back may not be the reason for all the symptoms you have.

Hi.
The pain which worsens on walking, radiating to the back, with reflux and indigestion is suggestive of an inflammatory process going on in the abdomen. The mucus and flatulence, loose stools can be a sequel. Such type of symptoms can be due to gastroenteritis / colitis of various reasons.
I would advise you to undergo the following tests:
Blood- complete blood picture, kidney functions tests, blood sugar fasting and post-lunch,
Urine- routine,microscopy, culture and sensitivity ( before start of antibiotic)
Ultrasonography of abdomen.
Take a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole, probiotic and other supportive medicines as may be suggested by your treating Doctor.
This should help you get alright.
