What Causes Abnormal Behavior After Taking Panado?

My 10 year old daughter came down with a viral infection or chickgunya, she was given three sets of panado between 7 am 1pm and 12 am. During this time behave a little erratic and conversation not making since. This occur approximately 30 min after the dosage. I am very concern as I really dont know if this is due to the tablet or fever. Is it possible to review this situation.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
I appreciate your concern for your daughter.
It is well known that children and elderly may become delirious with fever and it is likely to be the cause of your daughter's abnormal talk. It is not a recognised side effect of plain paracetamol, but can occur when it is combined with antihistamines.
If it is only a viral fever it would settle soon. If there are additional symptoms like vomiting, fits or change in sensorium, she should be shown to a child neurologist without delay.
I am available if you have any further query.
Wish your daughter a quick recovery,
Dr Noble Zachariah
