What Causes Abnormal Behaviour In An Elderly Woman After Taking Effexor?
My 92 year mother is in a nursing home and has been taking Effxor bid. They just started her on Remeron at bedtime and she has only had 3 or 4 doses. Saturday she started having unusual behavior for her and it is happening again this afternoon and evening. Could it be from the new drug or the combination of the two?
Both Effexor and Remeron have anticholinergic side effects which can cause delirium/abnormal behavior in elderly. The combination may be too much for her. You can try discontinuing Remeron and see if it helps.
