I am 25 ish weeks pregnant and I've been having some heart issues but don't know if it is anything to worry over. Sometimes my heart feels funny and then it starts beating really fast and then shows down or feels like it slows down to the point of stopping and then starts beating really fast again and does this like two or three times in a row. I won't be doing anything but laying down and watching tv. I do not have a heart murmur or take any medications. I just need some advice before I go to the doctors about it. It's been going on for about a month now probably longer but I've only now started to get worried since it never happened when I was pregnant with my daughter.
You are probably experiencing heart palpitations, which is the sensation of irregular heartbeat, that is common in late pregnancy. However you should mention this when you go to the doctor, as other types of irregular heartbeats, called arrythmias, can show up in pregnancy even if you've never had symptoms before because your blood volume (the total amount of blood flowing through your body) is highest in the third trimester, and also heart valve problems can also develop symptoms. An EKG and/or an echocardiogram can evaluate these problems. I hope I answered your question and good luck and health.
