What Causes Abnormal Mucus Discharge Followed By A Large Amount Of Cottage Cheese Like Substance?

I am about to take my 4th night of Metroidazole Vaginal Gel but today I have had an abnormal mucus like discharge followed by a large amount of "cottage cheese" like substance. My other symptoms had cleared up but now this has arrived. Is this from the medication? What do I need to do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms can be due to fungal infections and Metronidazole may not be effective against fungi. Anti fungal drugs like Fluconazole or Miconazole should be used. I would suggest you to get a vaginal smear and pelvic scan to rule out pelvic infections.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
