What Causes Absence Of Periods After Having Coil Fitted ?
I have got the coil fitted and have had it fitted for the last 4 years. i have never had any problems with it and my periods completly stopped shortly after it was implanted. During the last week i have noticed that i have been getting some bloody discharge. It started off with a small amount but now its quite a bit that i am now having to wear a pad all the time. Is this normal?

Hi, I understood your query. The coil fitted in uterus must be one with hormone Livonorgestrel (Minera). Due to hormones the coil has advantage of hormonalcontraception as well as Intrauterine contraception. Inbuilt hormones are released slowly and the inner lining of uterus is not allowed to grow & hold pregnancy/ ovulation is prevented & there is no conception. It controls heavy periods/causes scanty bleeding/ some times stops the bleeding completely, till the hormone in coil is active. * the same must be in your case. bleeding stopped as the coil was inserted & now after 4 years when the effect of the device is over, you have started having bleeding. Please check your records for expiry of the device. Thanks.
