hello - I had my galbladder removed one year ago. I m vegetarian, work out constantly, gluten allergic, and lately - within the past few months, I have had an acidic type of order smell in my breath and from my nose. I do not feel sick at all. I m also on thyroid meds. Any ideas?
HI. Acidic type of odor smell in breath is usually due to a condition called GERD, wherein the acid from the stomach travels from the stomach to the esophagus and throat. This classically occurs in patients with acidity problems, those who have stress and anxiety. You had gall bladder problem and removed, one more reasons. Gluten allergy add to this. The diagnosis is by upper GI endoscopy. Treatment: PPI like Omeprazole, Domperidone, Antacid liquid, stop smoking and alcohol. Control of the stress and anxiety.
