What Causes An Ascending Aortic Aneurysm While Suffering From Hypertension?

I was told 10 days ago that an ER scan report from 3 years ago showed an ascending aortic aneurysm 4 cm. My scan is sceduled for 19 days from now. Does this sound normal for a 74-year-old woman struggling to keep blood pressure under control for 2 years?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Aneurysm is an abnormal dilatation of aortic wall due to high pressure and as increasing age wall become weak and prone to aneurysm. It's not normal because it can lead to thrombolysis formation, rupture, like complication which can be life threatening. It's depending on duration and size and location of aneurysm kindly do cardiology opinion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
